Who am I?
My name is Tom Spiteri. I am 16 years of age and I have lived in Wales, United Kingdom for the duration of my life so far. My hobbies include DJing, meeting friends, gaming and also eating (non stop). My current lifetime ambitions include hopefully moving and living in Orlando or Miami, Florida (that’s in the USA by the way) and also becoming a half-decent Dubstep DJ. As for what the future will truly hold for me? Only time will tell!
First to discuss is my music producing and mixing, you guessed it, I am a DJ. I usually either go by vSquared or Vinyl Virgin when producing or mixing it up, more on how I got my name later. I would like to think that I specialize in two genres particularly. These genres are Dubstep and Drum & Bass, well not so much Drum & Bass anymore, but yeah, you get the picture. More information on my wacky music taste (of Dubstep) on the Dubstep page of my blog.
And now time for the story to how I got the name “Vinyl Virgin”. Me and Jake were in Cardiff to buy some guitar strings (for Jake) and were waiting around for Sam to arrive. Sam arrived and I was thinking about this record shop he had told me about called Catapult Records, Cardiff (my favourite shop of all time). Sam took me to the shop and I instantly fell in love with the place. The variety of music and the friendliness of staff (Jon) were brilliant.
I decided that I wanted to take a listen to three Vinyls, these were Skream’s Dutch Flowers, Skream’s Midnight Request Line and finally Doctor P’s Sweet Shop. I didn’t have one clue how to play Vinyl records so Jake had to help me. After listening I bagged them and had a little chat to Jon. I tried to explain that I was new to Vinyl records and what came of this? Jake came out with “You’re a Vinyl Virgin”. I thought later that this would be a brilliant artist name and there we have it. That’s how I got my artist name of Vinyl Virgin (vSquared).

Interesting, huh? Next I move onto School (eurgh). I’m in secondary education at the moment doing my GCSE’s (or O levels to you oldies). For my GCSE options I chose Business Studies, Geography, German and History. These four choices go along with the other 6 (or so) compulsory subjects that I will be doing for my GCSE’s. I’ve already got 1 GCSE in Core Science (an A), which I was pretty pleased about (as I didn’t revise).
While on the topic of School, I have already chosen my A level options (silly I know, when I haven’t even done my GCSE’s) which are Computing, Geography, History and Physics. I will be staying at my current school’s sixth form while I do my A levels and from then on, who knows? I don’t have a clue what I want to do when I’m older, which makes things difficult. I like music but I have no instrumental capabilities and I like computers but the market is saturated. What to do, what to do?
And finally, onto the subject of everything else in my life. In my spare time, I’m either out and about around my home-town (or City, should I say?), wandering around Cardiff (a 7 minute train ride away), designing websites and graphics or simply talking to friends. I use Adobe Dreamweaver to code in XHTML and CSS and then Photoshop to design all of my graphics (with a little bit of paint on the side). Another thing I like to do in my spare time is game; Call of Duty is a great game, I’d suggest you give it a go some time (plus, it’s highly addictive).
I’m also a director of Incognito Records, an underground record label that releases music from Dubstep and Drum & Bass genres. Find out more about Incognito Records at the website, here.
Anyways, that’s about it for my Biography. And you think you had a difficult time reading all of that? I had to type it out!
